Precious Things

PRECIOUS THINGS  is a special photography project that explores how we emerge from playing a role to be accepted by our peers…to becoming a person who is comfortable in our own skin.

I can’t thank the women enough who came into the studio and let me document them in their own skin.

We shared stories of how our early experiences shaped our behaviour in our youth. And how these affected our body image as we emerged into adulthood.

A simple statement from a parent or friend about our weight or body can shape unrealistic expectations of our self-worth.

No one dared
No one cared
To tell me
Where the pretty girls are
Those demigods
With their nine-inch nails
And a little fascist panties
Tucked inside the heart
Of every nice girl
These precious things
Let them bleed
Let them wash away
These precious things
Let them break
Let them wash away
